Spot smoke detectors are used in a wide variety of installations, they are generally of two types, photoelectric or ionization some models integrate a thermal sensor to provide a higher resistance to nuisance alarming. There are standard (zoned), and addressable versions. Zoned spot smoke detectors are less complex and suitable for smaller systems. The addressable type can provide individual responses, and benefit from drift compensation and individual control. This type is better suited for large, complex systems. Either type is well-suited for general smoke detection in areas that are not complicated by environmental factors and do not require very early smoke detection.
